Info Referencing
We will reference your WebSelf website when you register to one of our 3 registred WebSelf plans.

To make a site accessible by search engines, like Google, it must first be referenced. We take care of this step once you register. By referencing your site, we indicate to the different search engines that your site exists. Once registred on WebSelf, you will have a domain name of your choice (www.YourSite.com) and a referral service on the most popular search engines (Google, Yahoo!, Bing). After a couple of weeks, you will be able to find your site on search engines.

Search engines can take some time to index your site. This period depends in fact on the search engines themselves. It usually takes a minimum of 2 weeks.

When referencing, we add your website to a website list to reference on search engines.Imagine this list on a mondial level : each day, hundreds of internautes add thousands of websites in order to be referenced. So, your website has been add to a list in a chronological order and to an unknown position. When your turn will come, a crawler will scann your website content.

Succeed in your referencing require work, effort and patience. Here are some informations should interest and help you in this task.

Add keywords

When you are registrer, you can help your referencing by adding keywords to your pages.
To do it, go on the icon "page" located on page top of  WebSelf toolbar.
Choose one page to edit (for keywords, the main page to edit is the home page)
A window will open
Click on the tab "advanced"
In this section, you can add a description for your page. This description wil be visible under your website name on result page of search engines.

Your content is important

Your domain name, your name pages, and your keywords are main element to get a good referencing. Try to get a relevant domain name for your topic and close as possible. Example : Mecanixautomobile.com is generally precise but when you consider the millions of websites dealing with automobile, it is therefore not specific to your business.
MecaniqueAutomobileDurandetFils.com is much more accurate and contains key words to find your website very accurately

It is the same for your title pages. Take your time to add a relevant title when you add a page in your WebSlef website. The field "page title" contains additionnal keywords to help your referencing pages.

At last, your website content is useful for crawlers Each page will be sanned and also all keywords listed with your page.



How works the ranking of sites in the results of a search engine ?


Most of Search engines display first, popular websites.
How engines decide the popularity of a website?

Engines scan the world website content, very regulary and automatically, in order to find keywords which enable to answer the users questions.
While reading a site, they will also check the links on the website page. The definition of a link is to point to another website 


For engines, these links constitute "votes". It means that each link from another website to your website is a vote for your website. 
    Example : here is a link pointing to the website : www.TrouverUnNom.com
    When a search engine scann this website, it understand : the WebSelf website make a vote for www.TrouverUnNom.com

    The popularity of a website is then judged by the number of links pointing to this website.

    So, it is logical to say that the more links you have pointing to your website, the more visitors you will have.
    These links are consider by search engines which count them such as votes. More links you hae pointing to you, more your content should be interesting, so more search engines judge your content as relevant face to the others websites and your keywords.


    The weight of those votes is not equal! A link pointing to your website coming from www.unknownwebsite.com will not weigh in the balance as a vote from www.Microsoft.com
    It is a reality : any website is equal! More the website link is visited, more search engines will calculate their vote as important.


    For example, further forums, personal and professional websites (in green) point to WebSelf.net (in blue).
    So WebSelf.net has an average size (or popularity).

    Only one link from WebSelf.net to the little green is enough to make it more popular than the others
    But only one link from the yellow one (you notice it, it is microsoft.com!) to your website (the red on your right) make it immediatly more popular than the green.

    Now, how having a link to your website? Well here is the logic: more your content is relevant, unique and searched, more your website's readers will be interested spontaneously. Supposed that those readers have their own website, there are more chances that they want to put a link to your website on their own because the content is complementary for their website or answer one of their questions, etc.


    You can also exchange links with partners or friends. You point a link to them, they point a link to you.

    The last criteria is the age of your website. More a website is older, more it should be located in the best results of search engines.



    The PageRank

    The weight of all votes cast form what is called PageRank. The higher your PageRank, the more Google and other information you post in the first search results related to your keywords. You have access to the PageRank of your page with the Google toolbar for browser

Websites with millions of visitors sometimes do not make the top 7 ...!! The green section is the bottom of the mountain! A PageRank of 5 is already considered a great success.

    Some tips to resume


    • Use keywords in your domain name (www.MecaniqueAutomobileDurandetFils.com). A relevant name will help to precise your subjet and the terms are keywords for Google and the others.
    • Without exaggeration, often use the most important words. Repeat them in the titles, pages and textes name, without putting the same word in all your phrases !
    • Keep very textual, large title/sub-titles-paragraphs; it is a good trick to get more text content and generally appreciate by readers.
    • Make sure you have good spelling, search engines do not understand cor if car is badly written and there are not many people doing research for cor in Google.
    • The external links will also help you discover.
    • Do not leave your website die! This is not because your website seems to be over now that it will be tomorrow! Continue to learn about your subject and when you find an interesting idea, do not keep it to yourself, create a new page on your website! Make sure the content is still interesting!
    • Use Google AdWords to paid advertising ! Like it or not, when there is money involved, it tends to work better!
    • And the most important, links to your website will also help you to be known. The weight of their vote is very important!

    When you search in Google, you can see the advertisements that appear in the top right of the screen as follows




    According to some studies, people click in the results as "natural" than the pubs (in red).
    So you can now appear on the first page of results. But obviously, you must pay. 

    How it works ?

    Here is the result advertising (and therefore the results of trade links, located in the red areas) of research "florist" in other words, this image represents what appears to the right to search for "florist".
    Look at the first Floraclic.fr.
    If a user clicks on the advertisement, it will be redirected to the Floraclic.fr, which provides a further visit to Floraclic.fr and possibly assume a sale.

    When the user clicks on the advertising, Google has billed a small amount to Floraclic.fr

    This is the search for "florist".
    The three companies have therefore chosen the right "flower" as a paid keyword.
    In other words, they specify to Google if someone searches for the word "florist", their site will be displayed.
    The problem is that spaces are limited, the three would first place.

    There is therefore a system of bidding on keywords.
    So, for the keyword "flower", "Floraclic.fr" pay more than "Interflora.fr" since it is second. "Interflora.fr" pay more expensive than "Fleuriste.re-chercher.org" which is third.

    A keyword can cost € 0.01 to € 1 and + click. It depends on the competition. The more business that want to pay for a keyword, the more bids go up and the price is high.

    In English, some keywords can cost until 50€ per click! (the word insurrance for example)

    Fortunetly, a keywords is not necessarily a single word. The keyword "florist" cost much more than the "florist in Paris". Moreover, grouped keywords are more precise. You will then be certain that if someone clicks and incurs costs for you, he is really interested, because he wanted a florist in the area of Paris.
